Jean Thomassen, Insane or Brilliant

Museum Slager, s-Hertogenbosch, the Netherlands
Imaginary Realism

From 13 August till 13 October, a unique exhibition of the works of Jean Thomassen can be seen in the Slager museum in the Netherlands. In the year of Jeroen Bosch (2016), Jean Thomassen attracted a lot of attention with his work ‘the triptych Last Judgment Day’. So much that the Slager Museum decided to organize a large exhibition.

Dreamscapes 2018 Hasselt, Belgium. Report by ARTHEBDA

This is a unique event, because since earlier museum exhibitions in Museum Markemarkhof (1995) and Westfries Museum in Hoorn (2000 and 2001) it was no longer possible to see work from Jean Thomassen. A small group of collectors owns almost all of his work and a large part is abroad. The Slager Museum managed to get the most important pieces to Den Bosch and it is probably the only and last time that these works can be admired together on one location.
