Brita Seifert is a German artist born in 1963 in Leipzig. In 1982 she started studying at the Hochschule für Graphik & Buchkunst Leipzig in the Drawing Class. She successfully completed this study in 1985. From 1999 to 2002 she studied Media Designer at the CimData Academy in Berlin.
Brita’s arts life started by taking life-drawing classes at the age of 17. From this moment she developed an intense interest in several techniques of drawing, in the human form, especially the female form. It takes for almost 40 years to realize her calling in life to become a full-time artist.
“My art is about desire, the desire to show through a feminine style how women can see themselves if they choose”
Brita says about her work: “My art is about desire, the desire to show through a feminine style how women can see themselves if they choose”.
This idea stands in complete opposition to the proletarian and rather masculine art of East Germany where she is grew up. This has become a visual response to her early life experience: like a gesture of artistic liberation. Brita’s paintings aim to fulfil a quest for beauty and luxury, which she was denied when she grew up in Eastern Europe.
With her work, she has a strong desire to portray everyday women in a glamorous way. Her models come from all walks of life, but on canvas they get to be superstars, divas, temptresses, goddesses and heroines. Brita particularly want woman to feel good about themselves, through her art. She wants to show the world how beautiful they are. She want the people to feel the love and tenderness that she has for subjects in every drawing/painting.
Since 2012 she works as a freelance artist. In 2013 she opened her private art academy in the Netherlands. She teaches the art of drawing and painting 3 times a week.
